_Precious
This morning I arise with a sense of purpose and healing. Seen first hand the disorganization of life, I resolve to divorce it, leaving it standing on the court room steps miserable and blue. “This, I can not tell a lie.” The healing aspect is the scar over mishaps and mistakes that I have made along my journey (and this infernal cough!) Last night I coughed until the sandman felt pity and patted my back sweet til’ I was sleep in his arms. Ugh..
Saw the movie “Precious” yesterday starring, Mo’nique, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, Sherri Shepard, Paula Patton and Precious herself, Gabourby Sidibe. My jaw dropped a few times during this film and when it wasn’t I was on some, “I would have” bit to a frowning cry. The character, Precious went from under hell, to under under hell. Just when I thought it could not get any worse, it did! Never have I seen such pain and abuse and maltreatment portrayed on the screen. It was evil to say the least! I walked out of that theater not the same; more instinctually aware of a “Precious” who may pass my way as I walk down the block.
Mo’nique was phenomenal. I am not an actress, took acting, and I pondered how this sista tapped into such bitterness, hate and disassociation. My mother later told me that Mo’nique was quoted during an interview as saying, “I had to go back to my old mind-set.” "Wow!" Let me tell you, I have a new found respect for this sista and encouraged all the more! Powerful!
Sidibe came and introduced herself as a sullen, suicidal, hurt yet sweet kind hearted persevering soul. I wanted to hug her a million times then take her away from the hate that had taken residence in her life.
This movie has changed the way I “see.” Abusive neglectful relationships of this magnitude should be sought out and eradicated; NO SOUL should have to deal with this hellified treatment! It’s intensity and darkness has risen a brighter light within and I am encouraged to do even greater things because if Precious can make it..
